Thermometric Test: Instrument Washer Disinfector

Thermometric TestThermocouple probes should be placed in the following positions:

  • A load item at each level of the load carrier
  • The area known to be slowest to reach temperature
  • The area known to be the quickest to reach temperature
  • Adjacent to the automatic control centre
  • Adjacent to the recorder sensor, if a multi-compartment machine one probe adjacent to each recorder sensor

  • Temperatures are to be within +/- 2°C for the required time.

On completion of the cycle a check must be made to confirm all test probes remain in the correct positions. Due to the variation of instrument washer disinfectors and loads, advice may be required to determine if the results obtained are satisfactory.
